Do I have news for you!

I'm sure some of you have already heard the news, but if you haven't already, it has been reported from Variety, that the director for Vince Flynn's upcoming Mitch Rapp movie, Consent to Kill, will be Antoine Fuqua.  He will be working with CBS Films and with producers Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Nick Wechsler.

Fuqua has directed movies such as Tears of the Sun, Shooter, and Training Day.  You can read the entire Variety article here:

Now, we just have to wait to see who will get the Mitch Rapp role!  Cool

And pray it's not Mark Wahlberg from Fuqua's "Shooter" or Ethan Hawke - "Training Day".

I do like the choice for director.

Hopefully this movie will be a little closer to the book than shooter was, besides the characters names and the fact that he was a Marine sniper, nothing was the same.  Also I've heard Eric Bana will be playing Mitch, anyone else hear this?

Thanks for the welcome. My brother in law told me this, but I have not been able to find anything about it.  I think he would be a perfect Rapp, what are your thoughts?

Bana has been talked about from the beginning.  He played a Spec Forces soldier in Black Hawk Down.

I think he is a little short for the role, but if they put lifts in his boots, it could work.  He could definitely bring out the dark side of Rapp.

Why are they starting the movie franchise w/ "Consent to Kill"?

p.s.  Jon Hamm as Mitch Rapp

Wish I knew the answer steves...not sure.  I was hoping they'd start with Transfer of Power.  But, I'm excited anyway!  Consent to Kill was a great book.  It'll be fun to see how the storyline plays out in the movie.

I can see Mark Wahlberg as Mitch. Bana, 2nd choice......Maybe this could start out great with this director and he can continue thru all the books. Kinda like Bourne saga...

Hey pcatalli, it will be fun to see how it turns out.  It would be great to see a Mitch Rapp Movie Franchise take off after Consent to Kill hits the big screen.

I have thought from the beginning that Eric Bana would be the perfect brooding, strong, and silent type to be MR.  He does portray a dark side that MR taps into when necessary, which is more often than not.  Stature in the movies is fluid with shoe lifts, camera angles, etc.  It is more important to get the personality of MR correct than the exact look, don't you think??
